Erne waterways
- 1 The River Erne Rises in County Cavan (Republic), flows through Upper and Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, empties into the Atlantic at Ballyshannon, Donegal.
- 2 Lower Lough Erne About 109 km squared. About 100 islands, many with ancient Christian sites. Devenish Island has a famous round tower.
- 3 Upper Lough Erne Complex lakes, channels and wetlands between Enniskillen and the border. Hundreds of islands in a maze of navigable channels.
- 4 Fermanagh's limestone Sits on carboniferous limestone. Water dissolves limestone to create caves, underground rivers, and hollows.
- 5 Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark. Among the finest showcaves in Europe. Stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers.
- 6 Erne-Shannon Waterway Opened 1994. Canal link connecting Lough Erne to the River Shannon — creating 750km navigable waterway from Belleek to Limerick.
- 7 Water-based tourism Boating, fishing, and water sports. Enniskillen is the gateway. One of the best pike fisheries in Europe.
