Traditional Irish weather sayings
- ▶ 'Ní théann tart gan lorg.' — Thirst always leaves a trace. (Said of rainy weather — it's rarely completely gone.)
- ▶ 'Maidin chiúin, tráthnóna gaofar.' — Calm morning, windy evening.
- ▶ 'Is fearr drochshíon ná drochsheans.' — Bad weather is better than bad luck.
- ▶ 'Bíonn gach tosnú lag.' — Every beginning is weak. (Said of a clearing shower.)
- ▶ 'Tá sé ag stealladh báistí.' — It's pelting rain (lit. 'spouting rain').
