Equality and diversity activities
- RIGHTS AUDIT: list 10 rights from the UNCRC. Rate how well each is protected in your school. Discuss.
- THE IDENTITY WEB: each child draws a spider diagram of their identities — nationality, religion, language, hobbies, family. Compare: how are people similar and different?
- PRIVILEGE WALK: a structured activity exploring how different circumstances give different advantages. (Sensitive — requires careful facilitation.)
- DISCRIMINATION SCENARIOS: role-play cards. Read a scenario, identify the discrimination, discuss how it feels and how to respond.
- QUOTE DEBATE: 'All people are equal but some people are treated as less equal.' Is this true? Evidence for and against.
- NEWS ANALYSIS: find a news story about inequality (in NI or globally). Who is affected? What could be done?
- LETTER WRITING: write to a real person or organisation asking them to address an inequality you have identified.
