About this tool
Visual maths supports the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach used widely in UK and Singapore-style mastery teaching. Children move from physical objects (concrete) to drawn representations (pictorial) to symbols (abstract). These printables sit in the pictorial layer — between counters and numerals.
Use TENS FRAMES for early counting and number-bond work (Reception, Y1). Use BAR MODELS for word problems and reasoning across all year groups (especially Y2-Y6). Use DOT PATTERNS for subitising — recognising small quantities at a glance, a foundational skill for fluency.
