What you'll need
- Felt squares in assorted colours A4 size
- PVA glue or fabric glue
- Scissors
- A background felt piece (A4 or A3)
- Optional: embroidery thread for detail
How to do it
- Plan the composition — what will be in the foreground, middle, background?
- Start with the background layer: sky, then land or sea.
- Cut the main shapes and lay them out without gluing first.
- When the arrangement is right, glue from background to foreground, pressing firmly.
- Add details: cut smaller shapes for texture, patterns, faces.
- Optional: add embroidery thread detail for lines (grass, rain, fur texture).
💡 Tips
Felt doesn't fray when cut — this is its great advantage for young children. Sharp scissors produce cleaner edges. Encourage cutting curved shapes freely rather than drawing them first.
