What you'll need
- Marbles (3–5 per child)
- Poster or acrylic paint
- Shallow tray or box lid (larger than A4)
- White cartridge paper cut to fit the tray
- Spoons
- Aprons
How to do it
- Cut paper to fit inside the tray.
- Place the paper in the tray.
- Spoon a small blob of paint onto 3 marbles (different colours).
- Drop the marbles gently into the tray.
- Tilt the tray from side to side — the marbles roll and leave trails.
- When happy with the result, remove the marbles and leave to dry.
💡 Tips
Use a shoebox lid — the sides keep the marbles contained. Acrylic paint produces more vivid results than poster paint. Works beautifully on black paper too.
