What you'll need
- Large paper bags
- Newspaper or tissue paper for stuffing
- Green, purple, black, and orange paint
- Googly eyes (large)
- Coloured card for fangs, horns, ears
- Scissors and glue
How to do it
- Stuff the bag loosely with crumpled newspaper.
- Twist and tie the top to create the head shape.
- Paint the bag in the monster's main colour — allow to dry.
- Glue on large googly eyes.
- Cut fangs from white card, horns from coloured card, glue on.
- Paint or draw features: mouth, spots, scales.
- Add arms and legs cut from card or pipe cleaners.
💡 Tips
Do the base painting first (it needs to dry) so prepare bags in advance. Let children design their own monster rather than copying an example — the variety of results is part of the display appeal.
