What you'll need
- Cardboard boxes of various sizes
- Cardboard tubes (paper towel, kitchen roll, toilet roll)
- Bottle caps, lids, yoghurt pots
- Masking tape, PVA glue
- Silver and grey paint, or paint in any colours
- Googly eyes, foil, stickers for decoration
How to do it
- Collect and organise materials by type — boxes, tubes, small items.
- Plan the robot: what is the body? The head? Arms? Legs?
- Assemble the large structural pieces first using masking tape (stronger than glue at this stage).
- Add smaller details once the main structure is stable.
- Paint — silver/grey is classic for robots, but any scheme works.
- When paint is dry, add details: googly eyes, foil panels, bottle cap buttons.
💡 Tips
Start collecting 2-3 weeks before the session. Ask families to send in materials. Send a list home: small boxes (cereal, shoe), tubes, yoghurt pots, egg boxes.
