What you'll need
- Flour: 2 cups
- Salt: 1 cup
- Water: approximately 3/4 cup
- Cookie cutters (optional)
- Rolling pins
- Toothpick or straw (for hanging holes)
- Poster paint and varnish when hardened
How to do it
- Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water until a smooth, non-sticky dough forms.
- Knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Roll out to about 1cm thickness.
- Cut shapes with cookie cutters or mould freehand.
- Make a hole with a toothpick if hanging.
- Bake at 120°C for 2-3 hours until hard all the way through.
- Cool completely, then paint with 2 coats of poster paint. Varnish to seal.
💡 Tips
Don't rush the baking — thick pieces need a full 3 hours. The finished objects should be completely solid with no soft spots. Varnishing is essential for durability. Ideal for Christmas gifts.
