What you'll need
- A4 card in contrasting colours (2 colours minimum)
- Scissors
- Ruler and pencil
- Glue or tape for finishing
How to do it
- Take one piece of card and fold it in half.
- Cut parallel strips from the fold toward the open edge — stop 2cm from the edge (do not cut all the way through).
- Unfold the card — these are the warp threads.
- Cut the second coloured card into strips the same width.
- Weave strips over-under through the warp, alternating the starting point each row.
- Glue or tape the ends down when complete.
💡 Tips
Pre-cut the warp for younger children. A wide margin on the warp card (2cm) prevents it tearing. For advanced children: try 3 colours, or vary the strip widths for a different pattern.
