What you'll need

  • White or silver A4 paper
  • Scissors (sharp — this really matters)
  • Optional: glitter, spray paint, hanging thread

How to do it

  1. Fold the paper in half to make a rectangle.
  2. Fold in half again to make a square.
  3. Fold diagonally to make a triangle.
  4. Fold in thirds — bringing one third over, then the other third over that to form a narrow triangle.
  5. Cut across the top to make a clean edge.
  6. Cut shapes from both straight edges and the folded edge — V shapes, curves, notches.
  7. Unfold carefully to reveal the snowflake.
💡 Tips Sharp scissors are essential — blunt ones tear rather than cut. Demonstrate the folding sequence very slowly under a visualiser. Each child should do 3-4 before they're confident.
