What you'll need

  • Thick string or wool, 30cm lengths
  • Poster paint
  • Cartridge paper A4
  • Plastic spoons

How to do it

  1. Fold paper in half and unfold it.
  2. Dip string in paint, leaving a tail hanging out.
  3. Lay the string in loops on one half of the paper.
  4. Fold the paper over the string.
  5. Hold paper down firmly with one hand and pull the string out with the other in one smooth motion.
  6. Unfold to reveal the symmetrical design.
💡 Tips Multiple strings of different colours make more complex designs. For butterflies, add a body and antennae with a black marker after the paint dries.
