What you'll need
- Red and pink card
- Scissors
- Glue
- White paint for symmetry hearts
- Coloured pencils or markers
How to do it
- SYMMETRY HEART PAINTING: fold white card in half. On one side, drop blobs of red and pink paint. Fold and press. Open to reveal a symmetrical heart.
- WOVEN HEART: cut two strips of contrasting card (red/white). Each strip is folded and cut into 3 loops from the fold. Weave together for a classic Danish woven heart.
- KINDNESS COUPON: make a small folded card with a coupon inside — 'I will help you with...' or 'I'll sit with you at...' Reframe as a kindness activity for any recipient.
💡 Tips
In primary schools, Valentine's Day is most effective when framed around friendship and kindness rather than romantic love. The symmetry painting is genuinely joyful regardless of the occasion.
